MUSIC PREFERENCE, PERCEPTION AND ATTITUDE OF BABCOCK UNIVERSITY UNDERGRADUATES

The study investigated music preference, perception and attitude of Babcock University undergraduates. The study established that music is part and parcel of students’ lifestyle. The study was anchored on Uses and Gratifications Theory and Perception Theory. The study adopted survey research method. The research used questionnaire to elicit responses from respondents who were selected using quota sampling as non-probability sampling. The data was analysed using descriptive statistics (Frequency and Percentage). The main findings of the study include that majority of respondents are exposing to music while many often listen or watch hip hop music. The study recommended that students try to expose to music genre that are not only entertainment but also educational.
