This research investigated the need for campus radio in Nigeria tertiary institution. The research is hinged on the Development Media Theory and System Theory. A survey method was employed, as the researcher purposively selected his respondents from the chosen campus stations. Questionnaire was used to elicit responses from respondents. The data collected was analysed using descriptive statistics ( frequency and percentage). However, findings revealed that the selected campus broadcast stations have positively affects their host environments in terms of news reports, but were subjected to persistent interference by the school authority. The research therefore recommended among others that campus broadcast stations should work in line with their purpose of establishment, mission and philosophy, and should also ensure strict adherence with journalistic reporting ethics towards avoiding interference and influence.
