Findings show that students used the internet often at least spent 1-5 hours daily for research, reading, learning and other purposes. Also, majority of the respondents used the internet for gossiping and chatting aside for academic advancement. The finding indicated that lack of free access to the internet and cost of browsing were the major challenges hampering students’ effective use of the internet for learning and research. Many of the respondents use search engine and social media often while google.com search engine is used more than any other search engines on the internet. It was recommended that the institution through other stakeholders should provide free access to the internet to students and lecturers to enhance their internet usage while the slow internet connection speed should be improved upon, this can be achieved through an increase in the internet bandwidth.
