The study is set out to examine the effectiveness of photographs in print journalism. Photography is believed to be one of the most effective elements in drawing attention because photographs play a very prominent role in magazine and the world of print media in general. It communicates messages even to the illiterates. The study is anchored on the Source Credibility Theory. Survey research method was adopted in which questionnaire was used as data collection instrument while 100 respondents were selected within four newsstands in Osogbo particularly at Oke-Fia Newstand, Ayetoro Newstand, Gbemu Newsstand and Olaiya newsstand respectively using accidental sampling technique. The data collected were analysed using frequency and percentage method. Findings show that photographs draw the attention of the readers to the most prominent news and issue especially when placed at the front page and other pages while placement of photo are used to set agenda on what public will debate upon. It was recommended that print media should always use only the important photo that communicates the message in which the photo represents, and not just use any photo.
