ABSTRACT: The research evaluates of mass media as the gatekeepers in the society with a focus on Osun State Broadcasting Corporation. There is no gaining saying that Gatekeepers limit, expand and interpret information usually news before it comes public commodity. The study was anchored on Gatekeeping Theory. A survey research method was used while questionnaire was used to collect data from respondents within Osogbo metropolis. The data collected were analyzed in descriptive statistics. Findings show that majority of respondents were of the opinion that gatekeepers at OSBC are doing lots of gatekeeping especially in their news. It was recommended that press outfit should employ qualified people that will be saddled with the role of opening and closing of information gate. Seminars and workshops should be a continuous activities i.e training and retraining of staff is essential. Press library should be updated and upgraded all the time because media practitioners are expected to know everything about something and something about everything.
