ABSTRACT: The study investigated the influence of mass media on the use of contraceptive among rural women (A case study of women in Ibokun Community). The study was anchored on Social Judgement Theory. A survey research method was adopted while questionnaire was employed to elicit responses from respondents. The respondents were selected using accidental sampling technique and the data were analyzed in frequency and percentage method. Findings showed that majority of respondents claimed that mass media is a major and credible source of information making it to have a great Influence. It was recommended that there is need for more community programmes that will further was educate the mass rural dwellers on how to utilize drug, family planning and child spacing e.t.c unlike in the past where women used old and local materials such limestone, bitter lemon, charm and much more. Community mass media are advised to use a simple language and pictures to illustrate their message to enhance understanding among rural dwellers.
